BRAND MESSAGING
Recently formed TV production house 141 approached us to create their brand, messaging and website. Grown from a talented team behind some of the country's most notable television programming, 141 was to be the new face of Objective Media North headed up by Hannah Brownhill and Toby Stevens.
With their pioneering new programme "My Dead Body" about to air in the UK - the team need an impactful and compelling logo and identity in time for the release. We worked with Hannah and Toby to establish the reasons why they make television. What drove their creative process through a series of open discussions and structured workshops - and for them, it all boiled down to finding, recording and showcasing the lives of real people and telling their stories in their own voices.
We wanted to visualise these voices directly in the brand identity.
Looking at the rhythm and form found in spectrograms, these unique and dynamic graphics are both unmistakable and playful - the visual signature of a voice. We combined this idea with the numerals from the name 141 - the team dialling code in their Glasgow office and created a striking mark and animated sting - which also has a nod to the team's location north of the border.
Icons
As part of an extended digital and physical roll out we went on and created a custom set of graphic icons built from the universally recognised play pause record functions, with the red record "dot" used in the main lock up to add impact, explain the business, and tell the viewer - it's time to, sit up, switch on and pay attention.
The identity aired on "My Dead Body" on Channel Four in December 2022 to over 1.5 million viewers.
