To independent bottlers reputation is everything — and spirit means even more.
Saltire Rare Malt Whisky has grown a vast collection of some of Scotland’s most coveted single malt spirits over the course of 3 decades. Coveted single cask releases from famed and forgotten distilleries.
Based in Falkland, Fife — the birthplace of Scotch Whisky — Saltire's ambition was to create a brand and collection of whiskies that would speak directly to a discerning audience. Global buyers who are whisky-aware, experienced and attuned to the value of rarity and provenance.
Our role was to translate this ambition into a brand world that positions Saltire not only as a curator of the finest rare malts, but a truly independent bottler and unmistakably their own.
We worked with the founders to develop a foundational brand strategy all the way through to bottle design system, packaging assets, marketing comms, ecommerce platform and brand collateral across every touchpoint.
We anchored the strategy in Saltire’s ethos that releases are never rushed — only bottled at the precise moment when the true character of the spirit is realised.
This truth became the brand’s central promise, Saltire Rare Malt — A Measure of Time & Taste.
The Saltire marque layers symbolism that captures the history, craft, and good fortune that whisky has become synonymous with the world over. The Celtic Dara Knot reflects the heritage of the of the single cask maturation, the whisky thief nods to the expertly curated spirit, while two figure-of-eight loops represent fortune and continuity.
Paired with an uppercase logotype, the identity balances authority and refinement, combining provenance with a degree of modernity in an identity that feels at once timeless and instantly recognisable.
Every element of the packaging was designed for clarity and distinction. The Bronte Tall 70cl bottle features a natural wood stopper and debossed deckle edge label on Materica Gesso, accented by an gold decorative coin, release specific watchstrap, and green-and-gold capsule.
Presented in a foiled carton with tissue wrap, the system respects whisky’s classic codes while introducing Saltire’s unmistakable character.
Saltire launched with 18 single-cask releases, each limited to 200–500 bottles. Within weeks, the first run completely sold out — affirming the position of the brand with retailers, collectors and enthusiasts.
Now selling globally with teams in Japan and the US, Saltire is fast realising its ambition.
More than just a bottler, Saltire Rare Malt Whisky has become a curator of Scotland’s most special spirits — a brand that stands for authenticity, rarity and design craft. Built on heritage, provenance and the craft of whisky maturation, its success lies not only in the quality of its casks, but in the brand world which their audience want to buy into — each bottle another measure of time and taste.
