42 Divided by 10. Part 3 - The Sparks
Good eggs, loyal supporters and strong-willed challengers, we’ve spent 10 years building relationships that, I hope, have proven to be as fruitful for them as they are for us.
“They lead to more opportunities and opened interesting doors, the ones most shared and noticed and are often the ones still mentioned today.”
Now let me be very clear, if I was a religious man I would say we have been blessed with the clients we’ve worked with these past 10 years. Good eggs, loyal supporters and strong-willed challengers, we’ve spent 10 years building relationships that, I hope, have proven to be as fruitful for them as they are for us. Each and every project we have worked has contributed to where FortyTwo are today and I am grateful to so many people. However for today I’m going to highlight a small selection projects over the past decade that became real ‘sparks’ for our progress.
They lead to more opportunities and opened interesting doors, the ones most shared and noticed and are often the ones still mentioned today. I could list 50 projects (or 42 would be cute) that mean so much to us but LinkedIn would not thank me for doing so, so here’s a tight 9 - one for each full year we’ve been around. The 10th to be revealed at the end of year on our official Birthday.
2016: The one that everyone quoted
The Teasmith - Opened us up to the drink sector, won awards and became a reference for so many.
2017: The one with all the stories
SnowRoad - Fantastic collaboration with Lateral North and Cairngorms Business Partnership. Collating the myths and stories from fascinating people across 90 mile route.
2018: The one that opened interesting doors
Rizzas - Family business with real heritage and a name all who grew up on the North East knew. A chance to be part of that heritage and of their next stage of growth.
2019: The one that spread the FortyTwo word
Brown & Brown - Architecture and those who value craftsmanship has been a rich vein for us, this was the project that started it.
2020: The one that punched through lockdown
Devana - Local sneaker brand that celebrated being local. Amongst the dirge of lockdown limitations, being reminded of walking the hills, was a welcome relief.
2021: The one that made a difference
Steel Space - A innovation in an established B2B field demanded a new way to brand and own that ‘boldness of vision’.
2022: The one with the sheep called Bollocks
Orkney Boreray - A unique breed in many ways that needed protecting. Plus… a sheep called Settisgarth Bollocks is a reason to get involved on its own!
2023: The one that was a first
Portia Knight - Seaweed presses, Crovie, beautiful prints and some awards along the way. What’s not to love about this project.
2024: The one that’s still growing
Saltire Rare Malt - Born in Fife, now around the world and more. Supporting SRM has been a rare treat as they continue to build lovers of their special and rare releases.
And to reiterate, this is a mere snapshot of work over the years and doesn’t cover so many projects and clients. However, they represent key moments and milestones that lead to future progress - many of which are still bearing fruit today.
Looking at your own businesses, where are the ‘sparks’ for you?
